Our weekend

This past week was an easy week. After testing was over we pretty much had fun days. Lots of movies and playing board games in the classroom.Tomorrow we are back at teaching. I have two  unit lessons that I think are going to last for the next 4 weeks. Which should be fun.

Andrew turned the BIG 1 on Saturday. We took him out for breakfast and holy cow can that little guy eat. He loved his breakfast.Afterwards we went to target to pick up a few items for that night. We were going to a wedding that night and we just needed a few things. We went home and just played with Andrew. We didn't have a party this time around. Im sure we will do one next year but we opted out this year.

We took Andrew to the wedding with us, which an hour into it we realized we should have left him with my mom. The wedding was just beautiful. The wedding was one of my high school friends and she made a huge wedding. It was just gorgeous. She wanted a fairytale wedding and it was just that. Jaime also bought his first suit, and I was just so smitten by him.

Pay no attention to the whale next to the bride(that is why I hate flash pictures). Isn't she beautiful, in her wedding dress? We had a blast. Jaime and I danced to a song and then we stayed for a little while longer. We were not able to stay long because Jaime had to work the next day. There were free cocktails and Jaime and I kept getting drinks. We didn't get too crazy, we were okay. We were just having fun.

We also had a big storm which came a problem to our house but thats for another post.

Staar Stressing....I mean testing

In Texas we have a standardized test called "STAAR". Today was the mathematic part to the test which is my test(I teach 4th grade math,in case you didn't know) so it was nerve wrecking.I just wanted to give you a little glimpse of my thoughts of today.

The assistant principal tells me in the morning "okay, your test are ready, come pick them up."

Another teacher comes up to me and informs me one of my students has thrown up due to nerves. I should have been more concerned.

We only have 4 hours for the whole entire test. If you ask me it's not enough time for a 4th grader to do a test of 56 questions.

One of my students was still working 10 minutes before I had to call time.

When the student finally finished.

We usually eat at 11:40 and we had to wait till 12:30.

When I actually was able to eat.

I was so tired from the day that I left early from work and pretty much left half asleep.

Some books I have read so far

In case you were wondering where I find the next book to read, wonder no more. I find my next read on instagram #yabooks. I usually scroll through pictures of what other people are reading then I go on amazon and see if it is a book I would be interested in. I usually am interested in most YA Reads. I think the only ones Im not that excited for are the fantasy ones that have to do with werewolves and other super natural beings. I think I'ver read one series on those type of book and I think it was enough. I usually read syfy, dystiopia, and romantic ya books.

I cannot get into the more adult books. I wish I could, it's just not something I like to read. In about two week we got to Corpus Christi where the nearest half off book store is and I'm so looking forward for that. I'm looking forward to see my sister graduate too of course.

The slammed series

Following the unexpected death of her father, 18-year-old Layken is forced to be the rock for both her mother and younger brother. Outwardly, she appears resilient and tenacious, but inwardly, she's losing hope.

Enter Will Cooper: The attractive, 21-year-old new neighbor with an intriguing passion for slam poetry and a unique sense of humor. Within days of their introduction, Will and Layken form an intense emotional connection, leaving Layken with a renewed sense of hope.

Not long after an intense, heart-stopping first date, they are slammed to the core when a shocking revelation forces their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together, and the secret that keeps them apart.

These books were top 5 of my all time favorite reads.Well, maybe I should say that the whole series was my top 5 favorite series books. I read the first book in 4 hours I mean I could not stop turning the page. Thankfully this was on a Friday and I didn't have to wake up early in the morning. By the time I was finished with the book I went on Amazon and I ordered the next one. I wanted to know what happened next so badly, I went back and forth as to if I should just buy it on my kindle even thoughtI had already bought the paperback. Yes, that's how badly I needed to read the second book. Read this book, You will not regret it one bit.

Red Queen

Graceling meets The Selection in debut novelist Victoria Aveyard's sweeping tale of seventeen-year-old Mare, a common girl whose once-latent magical power draws her into the dangerous intrigue of the king's palace. Will her power save her or condemn her?
Mare Barrow's world is divided by blood—those with common, Red blood serve the Silver- blooded elite, who are gifted with superhuman abilities. Mare is a Red, scraping by as a thief in a poor, rural village, until a twist of fate throws her in front of the Silver court. Before the king, princes, and all the nobles, she discovers she has an ability of her own.
To cover up this impossibility, the king forces her to play the role of a lost Silver princess and betroths her to one of his own sons. As Mare is drawn further into the Silver world, she risks everything and uses her new position to help the Scarlet Guard—a growing Red rebellion—even as her heart tugs her in an impossible direction. One wrong move can lead to her death, but in the dangerous game she plays, the only certainty is betrayal.

I saw that many people were reading this book so I decided to buy the book. Once I got through the first 4 pages I was hooked and could not wait till I read it again. With kids, reading is not something you can do often. So I would read it during my lunch break, at night, and nap time. Hey when your a mom and love to read you will find time. Back to the book, I have to say that this book really surprised me. I didn't think I was going to like it but it somehow reminded me of the selection just like it said it would. It really was amazing. I had to read some parts out loud though because It was hard to picture in my head but in all. I think this was a fascinating book to read.

I don't know about the title though. It could be giving something away with the coming books and I don't think I enjoy that.

Book I am currently reading:

The art of love is never a science: Meet Don Tillman, a brilliant yet socially inept professor of genetics, who’s decided it’s time he found a wife. In the orderly, evidence-based manner with which Don approaches all things, he designs the Wife Project to find his perfect partner: a sixteen-page, scientifically valid survey to filter out the drinkers, the smokers, the late arrivers.

Rosie Jarman possesses all these qualities. Don easily disqualifies her as a candidate for The Wife Project (even if she is “quite intelligent for a barmaid”). But Don is intrigued by Rosie’s own quest to identify her biological father. When an unlikely relationship develops as they collaborate on The Father Project, Don is forced to confront the spontaneous whirlwind that is Rosie―and the realization that, despite your best scientific efforts, you don’t find love, it finds you.

I have to admit I have not totally fallen in love with this book. I think this is one of those adult books, but people were reading this book so I jumped on the bandwagon. Im only on page 7 so I have not read much of it. It's interesting but we will see how good it is.

My Andrew

We are hitting the 1 year mark next coming weekend. We are not doing something big this time around. We are probably going take him some places. I might take him to the zoo. We are not exactly sure on what we are going to do. (Hmph, we are so on top of things.)

I want to share some things about Andrew.

1. He gets upset very easy when something does not go his way.
2. He is a morning person and wakes up with a smile(most mornings)
3. He gives slobbery kisses(only momma).
4. He puts everything in his mouth
5.He is not a fan of shoes
6. He's daddies little pal
7. He waves bye.
8. He bothers his big sister when she is doing something.
9. Every morning is a shit show(literally)
10. He likes to throw things over his shoulder. Who cares where it lands.

He is the master right now! This child keeps me on my toes and I could not imagine my life without this bugger.

Spring break week

On March 13th it was my birthday. I was not looking forward for it. Partly because Jaime was working and I wanted to spend the day with him. So I decided to go to work and spend the day with my students and co-workers. It turned out to be a good day. We did a little party at the end of the day and I received some gifts from the kids and my co-workers and my mom. My mom met some of my students.

We have been painting non-stop to this house. We have finished painting our living room and we are now on to putting up curtains and rods. Jaime doesn't really let me do much on my own. That's what happens when your married to a perfectionist. I'm in charge of the decorating and less of putting holes in the wall. Which I understand he loves this house.

We finally have new furniture and a new bedroom set. Our house is still a working progress....oh and don't get me started on the outside landscape.

Reading, Reading, Reading. Lately, I have been reading almost everyday. Do I feel bad about it? A litlle. Only because I should probably be doing work. Research and everything else I have to do for my classroom. I have read the Slammed series(oh my god that is a great book!!!), and I just finished the Red Queen yesterday. That is another good one. Lord know I love to read. It's my escape into fantasy land. I have been thinking about going back to school for writing. Is there such a thing? I was talking to Jaime about what he felt if I went back to school to learn "how to write a book". He was all for it. What would I go for? English major? I can hear Sheldon Cooper snickering. I miss school so much...and If I don't go for my "book classes", then what would I go for, for a Masters?

Have ya'll seen Cinderella? Isn't it amazing?! We sure loved it.

This little girl has been reading non-stop lately. I'm so glad that she has a love for books. She loves books as much as I do. We have been reading books since she was 16 months, and I guess it has caught up with her.

My favorite things about having two babies is that they get to play with each other. Megan is pretty rough with the little one but he seems to like it. I love when they get into little fights with one another. Like when gets her toys, I'm sure I will hear plenty more of it in the years to come. Jaime and I were talking about a pretend 3rd baby. Will we probably have another? Mostly likely, no. I really am happy with just us. I really just want to focus on our little family. If we were to have another baby it will be through adoption and years from now.

We have gone antique shopping a couple of time. We have found some pretty good things which I will post about later.

This is our before and after pictures. I like the white. I think there is more I can do with that color. We will see. We are still not finished. I still need to decorate the living room. We are trying to be DIYers but holy cow we are kind of slow with two kids. We still have to take out all the carpet from the house. I tell ya, the list is really, really long.

This little guy loves book, but in a totally different way. He loves to throw them over his shoulder.
